Year 1 this week

This week Year 1 really enjoyed our trip to The Fruit Market. We bought lots of healthy fruit and then made tasty fruit salads in class. We also created some lovely African sunsets, learned about the points of the compass and the different areas of Africa.

Spring 2

We have had a busy week in Year One.

This week in maths we have been learning about 2D shapes and their properties and working out how we can make new 2D shapes from other 2D shapes. We are also learning ordinal numbers and the right order they come in.

In Creative Curriculum we continue to focus on learning about Kenya in Africa. We enjoyed discussing Safari animals, climate and about the Masai tribes that live there. We really enjoyed painting our African sunset skies.

In English we have been focusing on learning about stories from another culture and the students have been fantastic at sharing interesting things about their culture and sharing them to the rest of the class. We showed songs, art, dance, clothing that are special to our particular nationality. We discussed the differences between Kenya and Doha in contrast to what is different and similar. We wrote about these in our books.

We continue to explore and learn new computer skills and this week we have begun a new project to make a power point presentation about Africa.

Here are our photos!

Year 1 flower boxes

Last week the Year 1 classes planted flowers in the flower boxes.  Thank you to the parents that helped. They all look amazing!!!!!!!!!

They have been having fun making safari sunset pictures.

We are recapping 2d and 3d shapes so they went on a shape hunt around the school.
